Signabuddies: Yvonne Pérez, Financial Controller at Signaturit

Posted by media on July 25, 2018 at 9:00 AM

This month it is a great honour to present our colleague, a girl from Navarre in the north. She studied Business Administration in Pamplona where she was able to combine books and calculators with trips into the mountains, her favourite place in the world.

During her teenage years, she was part of a Scout group, as a free time monitor, so she knows how to write Morse code or set up a camp with two sticks and some sticky tape.

She loves the sun on her face when it's winter, so she greatly enjoys living in Barcelona, where she has a terrace that is the envy of all her friends. And while she is looking after her plants you can often hear her talk about virginal beaches she has visited and her journeys to the edges of the earth. It has an urban vegetable garden :)

Get to know Yvonne in this interview, the Signabuddy who best combines Kundalini with Hatha-Vinyasa yoga exercises when woken up by rock festivals at dusk.

Meet our Financial Controller, Yvonne Pérez

1. How did you discover Signaturit?

My previous company was a startup that managed to establish itself with great success in its sector. Through that I was able to experience firsthand the different stages of growth which a business project passes through.

After 9 years of bearing witness to their progression I got to the point where I realised that I needed a change, to live new experiences. At that time Signaturit was presented as an opportunity to bring to the table everything I had learned up to that point.

2. How would you describe your work?

Any company that wants to manage its resources effectively in order to grow, must control what it is doing. That's where I came in :) In the finance team we have an important and stimulating challenge: the digital revolution!

At the moment we are involved in an important development project: implementing a new management system that allows us operate with more precise numbers in terms of time and form.

My job is to ensure that this occurs, by measuring and evaluating results.

3. What is the overall purpose of your position?

To understand what a Controller is, think of 4 key words: control, supervision, management, and accounting.

Keeping these concepts in mind, my general purpose would be to facilitate the achievement of clear and concise results by the management team, so that they can make good decisions within the overall business plan.

The most important aspect of my job is that those results be so precise that they only have to be analysed and carried out.

4. What have you learned from working in the Financial Department?

One can learn concepts, programs, metrics, reports and so on, but what I would like to highlight in finance work is that you have to develop other essential skills: memory, accuracy, creativity, talent, resolve and efficiency.

5. How is a typical day in Signaturit for you?

What's my day-to-day routine? The best thing is that every day is a wonderful world of possibilities! I don't like jobs with pre-established tasks. I look for versatility, where I can exercise my analytical, communicative and strategic vocation.

While there are certain set assignments (such as the close of accounting, financial reporting, taxes, etc.) there are also many new developments. And I love it! I am in permanent contact with the other departments so they always offer new little surprises.

6. What do you value most about working in Signaturit?

The possibilities. Nothing is closed off, everything is out there waiting for you to take it, while adding your own knowledge and brilliance.

7. What are your biggest challenges in Signaturit?

I think it would be to locate areas for improvement seen from the economic point of view.
Optimising systems to achieve the best results without losing sight of the fulfilment of both accounting and fiscal obligations. It's all a challenge (laughs)

It's a job where you need plenty communication ability and empathy, since my duties include advising the management and making the rest of the organisation aware of the importance of control in reaching objectives.

8. What do you like most about working in such an innovative sector?

Fluidity, constant change. The stale and well-established has gone out of style.

Many people are terrified by changing plans, but for me it's the opposite. I enjoy thinking that everything can be improved. For me innovation is all about modernisation and constant development.

At Signaturit we take care of informing those that are afraid of evolution that there is another way.

9. What are the characteristics of a Signabuddy for you?

Commitment and loyalty. Fun people, very hard working, that believe in what they do and who do it with a great deal of enthusiasm.

10. What would you recommend for future Signabuddies?

If you like everything comfortable and easy, tend to dodge challenges and think that proactivity is that class after spinning in the the gym, this is not the site for you. Enjoy the opportunity to grow.
