The Mobile World Congress is the biggest event in the mobile industry, held each year in Barcelona. This year it will take place between 26 February and 1 March 2018 and with more than 100,000 people already registered, it is expected to break the participation record: more than 208 countries represented and 2,300 stands confirmed.

In this post, we are pleased to announce that Signaturit will once again participate in this event for the fourth consecutive year, which brings together leaders from the world’s main technology companies.

MWC 2018: the latest developments

The Mobile World Congress in Barcelona is the city’s most important event in the first quarter of the year but it is also the most anticipated in the world for lovers of new technologies and businesses.

And although this initiative from the Global Systems for Mobile Association (GSMA) in the last edition brought together more than 100,000 visitors from 198 countries, close to 3,500 media outlets, more than 2,000 companies and a good number of government delegations, this year is being advertised as the  “the best Mobile World Congress in history”.

They are preparing a bigger hall and overflowing into the Gran Via exhibition site (20% larger surface area) with more discussion forums, meeting points and one or two other new elements.

It is well known that this mobile phone festival is the ideal place and time for the biggest brands to showcase their latest developments, as will happen in this edition with the presentation of the Samsung Galaxy S9.

It is also hoped that at this year’s event we will see the Huawei P11 which, just like its predecessor, will base a good part of its innovation on the quality of its cameras due to their agreement with Leica.

However, the event is not only important thanks to the official presentations of the latest mobile phones but also because of the speakers who participate in the event. One of the most distinguished in this edition is Christopher Young, CEO of McAfee, one of the most wellknown online security companies in the world.

Since 2017 was a year in which the security of mobile phones and computers was constantly threatened, it is likely that Young’s talk will be one of the talks that attracts the most people.

Women4Tech: equality and diversity in the technology industry

Another of this year's highlights will be the Women4Tech programme, which returns to the Mobile World Congress for the second year running.

The sessions in their schedule are designed to tackle the gender gap in the mobile industry and explain the best practices to reduce it and promote an equal and diverse ecosystem regarding gender.

In the Women4Tech programme, you will be able to enjoy a series of activities where they will offer information and in-depth analysis on gender diversity in the mobile technology sector.

Signaturit will be in the Spanish Pavilion at #MWC2018

This year Signaturit will return with its own stand in the heart of the exhibition site: we will be at Stand 38, Hall 5 in the Spanish Pavilion in Congress Square CS50.

From our stand, together with the other 56 Spanish companies that will make up the Spanish Pavilion, we will explain to all those who are interested how the trust services we offer (electronic signature, email certificates and electronic identification) can improve contracting processes and give legal security to digital communication in any company.

All our services have regulatory recognition and endorsement both in the European Union and in the United States.

This year we will also explain how our electronic signature solutions serve to obtain unequivocal and explicit consent from clients to be able to process their personal data.

As we have been explaining in our blog, on 25 May 2018 the new European Data Protection Regulation comes into effect, bringing with it significant changes that are going to affect processes for collecting and storing companies’ data.

As in the last three editions that we have attended, this year we would be delighted to talk to those who want to find out more about our trust services, understand what they are for and detect in which cases they can be used in each company.
